Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Old poblano

    • EatinSnax on March 21, 2026

I found this to be sickeningly sweet and overwhelmingly spicy as written. Made another one with the ancho liqueur scaled back to an old-fashioned spec (since this recipe is in the chapter for old fashioneds) and liked that better.

  • Gin martini

    • KPmusmag on December 08, 2025

Perfection when stirred and served at 24 degrees F

  • Fridge door Manhattans

    • EatinSnax on February 23, 2026

This worked great, the drinks came out perfectly balanced. Having a whole pitcher of delicious manhattans at the ready is a dangerous thing though!

  • Monte Carlo

    • EatinSnax on February 17, 2026

I’ve made different versions of this before that are served over ice, but I think I prefer it served up like this recipe. Also thought peychauds was very nice here instead of ango. My only note is that I reduce the Benedictine to 1/2oz, because 3/4oz makes the drink a little too sweet for me, but that’s personal preference.

  • Helia bravo

    • EatinSnax on May 29, 2026

This drink is right in my wheelhouse. Like a manhattan with Cynar and tequila reposado. All things I like coming together in a great cocktail. I skip the optional sugar rim, because I don’t like to complicate a balanced 3 ingredient cocktail.

  • Fridge door daiquiris

    • EatinSnax on April 30, 2026

This batch of daiquiris came out great. Classic tasting and balanced. A nice recipe to have for when you’re having a few friends over and don’t want to shake up individual drinks.

  • Seaport sling

    • EatinSnax on March 21, 2026

The description claims Singapore slings are insipidly sweet and that this version is pared back, but I made it as written and it was still overly sweet compared to other Singapore slings recipes I’ve tried.

  • Mai tai

    • EatinSnax on March 14, 2026

Way too sweet. I consider the Mai Tai a drink for people who like to taste the rum, but these proportions just bury it. Skip the simple syrup entirely and you have a better drink.
