Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Basic risotto

    • snarkattack on January 06, 2013

This recipe taught me to make risotto, I don't mind admitting...*blush*

  • Braised lamb and preserved lemon

    • Penza on April 16, 2012

this was easy to make a bit ahead although it doesn't need long time cooking. I served it with Israeli couscous salad. yummo!

  • Caramelised onion frittata

    • Penza on April 16, 2012

This was an excellent way to begin my love affair with frittata! I did the onion well before but no real need. Great cold too.

    • snarkattack on January 06, 2013

This is one of those 'near-kitchen-sink' recipes - I didn't have aged cheddar cheese at hand so just used strong, grated tasty cheese (I know, it's cheating :D. As previous member notes, great cold/at room temp. too! This dish got me through many poor uni student weeks and months.

  • Hokkien noodles with seared scallops

    • Muztal on May 17, 2016

16/05/16 for Helen and Murray. Very good. Next time I would use 350gms for two. Chilli oil on scalloped is perfect

  • Roast pumpkin and couscous salad

    • aargle on April 17, 2013

One of the first cous cous salads I ever tried and still a firm favourite. Usually have to double

  • Roast vegetable lasagne

    • onetui on November 14, 2015

Recipe also requires two eggplants (aubergines).

  • Saffron porcini risotto cakes

    • snarkattack on January 06, 2013

Could never find saffron (thank you Indian/Middle Eastern grocers!) or dried porcini mushrooms when I tried to make this which is probably why I could never successfully prepare though both of which are much easier to locate (I don't recommend trying to substitute the porcini with another variety of dried mushrooms).

  • Sweet potato and chicken risotto

    • snarkattack on January 06, 2013

I could never find leeks whenever I made or attempted this dish so just often just omitted them.

  • Warm chicken salad

    • snarkattack on January 06, 2013

Personal preference - never used watermelons or whole red chilli. Generally used chilli paste due as cutting chilli would burn the cuts in my hands for days (from playing stringed instruments).
