Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Chocolate layer cake with strawberry buttercream

    • kellyjo_zn0bbj on May 28, 2026

The chocolate cake recipe seems overly complicated for the outcome - there are better recipes out there with simpler techniques. The timing seems off, as well. 45 minutes for 2 8ā€ rounds is too long — I checked mine at 35 and it was definitely over baked already at that point. Frosting is nice though, a straight forward take on American buttercream. I’d skip the cake next time but would remake the icing.

  • Sesame-marinated zucchini

    • hillsboroks on September 01, 2021

We liked this dish as an interesting way to use some of our ubiquitous garden zucchini. It was simple to prepare and was a nice side dish to a stir fry main dish.
