Fortnum & Mason Awards shortlist announced
April 7, 2026 by DarcieFortnum & Mason has long been a resource for English cookery, providing quality ingredients to generations of cooks since its founding in 1707. The company’s annual food and drink awards celebrate the best publications and broadcasts in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and the shortlist for the Food and Drink Awards 2026 was just released. From the Fortnum & Mason announcement: “This year’s shortlist reflects a broad and compelling body of work, from explorations of how and why we eat today to deeply personal food histories, engaging drinks narratives, alongside cookery writing that captures both traditional and modern practices.”

Highlights of the shortlisted books include: All Consuming: Why We Eat The Way We Eat Now by Ruby Tandoh; The Heart-Shaped Tin: Love, Loss, and Kitchen Objects by Bee Wilson; An A-Z of Chinese Food: Recipes Not Included by Jenny Lau; Indian Kitchens: Treasured Family Recipes from Across the Land by Roopa Gulati; The Japanese Pantry: From Sake to Soy, Essential Ingredients for Japanese Home Cooking by Emiko Davies; The Irish Kitchen by Cherie Denham; Silk Roads – A Flavor Odyssey with Recipes from Baku to Beijing by Anna Ansari; and The Curious Bartender’s Agave Safari: Discovering and Appreciating Mexico’s Tequilas, Mezcals & More by Tristan Stephenson; and The Cynic’s Guide to Wine by Sunny Hodge.
The awards are judged by an independent panel of experts including Ravinder Bhogal, Marie Mitchell, and Richard Bertinet. Winners will be revealed at Fortnum & Mason, The Royal Exchange, London on April 30, 2026, hosted by broadcaster Andi Oliver alongside celebrated chef Angela Hartnett OBE.
