Take me out to the ballgame
March 28, 2025 by DarcieYesterday was Major League Baseball’s opening day, thousands of eagers fans headed to baseball stadiums across the U.S. In addition to the love of the game, spectators enjoy noshing on ballpark foods (and often, drinking adult beverages). I am not a huge baseball fan, but Target Field in downtown Minneapolis is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon, quaff a cold brewski, and eat some helmet nachos. Most stadiums have unique offerings that celebrate the home team, and in 2025 many venues have introduced new (and often wacky) food items.

Helmet nachos are one thing, but helmet tiramisu? I could get down with this treat from the NY Yankees (well, maybe not since it’s the Yankees, the Twins’ #3 all-time rival). After all, the “helmet” is really just a plastic bowl with a handy holding lip, so anything that could be served in a bowl should work in the helmet. The Houston Astros’ Daddy Mac Dog sounds good, and it better be for $16. Of course, all stadium food is overpriced – it isn’t a place for bargain hunters.
It doesn’t look like the Minnesota Twins have any wacky new offerings, but I am fine with the traditional game-day foods like the afore-mentioned helmet nachos along with hot dogs, milkshakes, and a Bloody Mary (with enough garnishes, it counts as a snack and as a beverage). What are your favorite ballpark food items?
