Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Chicken and leek gratin

    • aargle on October 21, 2019

Really enjoyed this and will put it on irregular rotation. I didn’t have fresh thyme so subbed in dried herbs de Provence which I thought was fine. Served with steamed beans, asparagus and sugar snap peas.

    • MaryCunningham86 on April 25, 2014

Delicious winter food. Have also added mushrooms with the leeks for something a bit different. The Provencal crust keeps well in the freezer, so I usually have some ready to go.

  • One-pot spiced apple cake

    • aargle on May 19, 2016

This is very nice - it took a little less time than the time specified. It makes a very large cake. Next time will decrease the sugar - a little too sweet for my taste but worth repeating.

    • ithyt on November 11, 2015

6.14 Takes longer to cook - next time try adding at least 10 mins. Flavours amaze - worth trying to get timing right. 7.14 I love these flavours - try to make into mini desserts.

  • Birdseed bar

    • Melanie on March 30, 2016

Easy, healthy and tasty. Keeps well in the fridge, great to have on hand.

    • MaryCunningham86 on April 25, 2014

Delicious and keeps well so great to have on stand by to take to work for morning tea. I like to substitute some of the sultanas for dried cranberries, and add almonds.

  • Garlicky vegetable toss

    • Melanie on March 12, 2016

Tasty and simple preparation, I liked that the butter and herbs made a light sauce / dressing for the dish. Served with roast chicken.

  • Balsamic glaze

    • Melanie on March 12, 2016

Agree with previous reviewer - very easy to make and tastes great.

    • ithyt on November 11, 2015

1.14 Great standby to have in the fridge - awesome basic recipe.

  • Steak salad with balsamic glaze

    • Melanie on March 12, 2016

I think I would have enjoyed this more if I had skipped the marinating and just used the glaze as a dressing.

  • Sausage, tomato and olive pissaladiére

    • Hellyloves2cook on December 06, 2012

Cant believe how easy the olive pastry was- basically flour and water and olive oil- it gave a nice crisp base and sides. Easy and fun to make and equally easy to eat. I did leave out the sausages as I didn't have them around. It got a big thumbs up from everyone in the family. Great for picnics too.

  • Turkish bread

    • Hellyloves2cook on October 22, 2012

Easy recipe. Enjoyable to make and very impressed with how the loaves turned out. Great to have with the Turkish Bride Soup.

  • Turkish bride soup

    • Hellyloves2cook on October 18, 2012

a nice wholesome soup. Quite thick too- I had to thin it down a little with extra water-whole family loved this!

    • MaryCunningham86 on April 25, 2014

This is a delicious, substantial soup.

  • Vegetable and tofu stir-fry

    • MaryCunningham86 on April 25, 2014

A favourite tofu dish - I just use any vegetables that I have on hand, and often add frozen podded edamame beans.

  • Spicy beef with harvest vegetables

    • saarwouters on September 25, 2017

This was a wonderfull dinner salad! Served it with the garlic / yoghurt / mayonaise sauce on the side. Very light, healthy and satisfying. I used courgette instead of eggplant.

  • Bang bang chicken salad

    • ithyt on November 11, 2015

10.13 Scrummy - great serv lunch dish.

  • Char-grilled corn on the cob

    • ithyt on November 11, 2015

1.14 I slightly charred mine but yum - great addition to bbq.

  • Speedy peanut sauce

    • ithyt on November 11, 2015

10.13 Scrummy - quick and easy

  • Salted edamame

    • ithyt on November 11, 2015

11.15 Delicious - next time try steaming to prevent colour loss.

  • Mexican pulled pork

    • ithyt on November 11, 2015

4.14 Crackled perfectly - yummy. 1.15 Used normal sized shoulder - need to perfect - I always seem to dry out my Pulled Pork.

  • Teriyaki sauce

    • ithyt on November 11, 2015

7.15 Made for chicken - perfect.

  • Coffee liqueur

    • ithyt on November 11, 2015

      11.13 Yummy w milk.

  • Apricots with macaroon topping

    • e_ballad on January 13, 2018

Very sweet, though that is in keeping with all macaroons. I didn’t make the suggested ‘Lemon syllabub’ to accompany them, which I regret as I suspect it would have been a good foil for this dessert.

  • Osso bucco

    • e_ballad on September 03, 2020

Very good flavours. It did create a lot of sauce, which made it too wet to be served alongside the suggested spinach saffron risotto.

  • Grilled broccoli salad

    • e_ballad on November 21, 2016

Quite liked this dish, which fired up the tastebuds with the heat of the chilli & the tang of the lemon.

  • Saffron spinach risotto

    • e_ballad on September 03, 2020

      Excellent side dish.

  • Power-boost salad

    • Mrlew1 on June 20, 2016

Quick, easy. I used peas instead of edamame and New Zealand spinach instead of rocket or baby spinach. Very good!
