Bitter Honey – Cookbook Giveaway
July 7, 2020 by JennyEnter our US/UK/AU/NZ giveaway to win one of three copies of Bitter Honey: Recipes and Stories from the Island of Sardinia by Letitia Clark.

In Bitter Honey, seasoned chef Letitia Clark invites us into her home on the beautiful island of Sardinia. Cooking on this Mediterranean sea paradise reflects life: it is a slow and relaxed affair and the most simple things are extraordinary. For example, the first recipe of many that struck me is the Roasted pecorino, walnuts, and honey. Sounds simple right? But the photo of this dish makes me itch to run to the market to get some pecorino and make it tonight to turn my leftovers into a tantalizing meal. Another example of such a dish is the Pasta with butter to save and salve – a few ingredients and relatively little effort and you are rewarded with a bowl of true comfort food. Simple, but elegant.
Books such as Bitter Honey, Summer Kitchens (promotion coming soon) and Carpathia (just a few recent examples) are indeed a salve to my soul. These books allow my weary mind to travel through my kitchen to a place such as Sardinia that while a paradise, isn’t just a place for the opulent but a dream that doesn’t seem impossible to covet.
Each turn of the page is more dreamy than the last and delivers a feeling of peace. A photo of the author’s kitchen shows a table ladened with fresh produce beneath a straining pot rack. In the background is her opened window that teases me to a view of the garden and makes me long to be there chopping vegetables for a meal. This book is a beautiful escape that capsulizes the simple beauty of Sardinia – food, people, and gorgeous scenery.

Our takes you inside this beautiful book and features the following
- Deep-fried peppers with anchovies and capers (Peperoni fritti con acciughe e capperi)
- Pear, pecorino and ricotta ravioli (Ravioli di pera, pecorino e ricotta)
- Grilled octopus and lemon potato purée (Polpo grigliato con puré di patate al limone)
