Mother and Father’s Day Gift Guide
April 17, 2019 by JennyMother’s Day is less than a month away and right on its tail is
dad’s turn. For those special folks in our lives that love to cook
and bake, I have prepared this guide to provide inspiration when
choosing that special gift. Of course, spending time with those we
love is of the utmost importance. Cooking for someone you love and
sharing a meal around the table is an incredible gift.
Please note that many of these products and books will be the
subject of a promotion/giveaway in the next few weeks so continue
to check back for opportunities to win some of these amazing gift
ideas.
Breville Convection and Air Fry Smart Oven Air, Brushed Stainless Steel is my new favorite appliance. It revolutionizes the way I approach cooking. The oven has 13 cooking functions: Toast (up to 9 slices), Bagel, Broil, Bake, Roast, Warm, Pizza, Proof, Airfry, Reheat, Cookies, Slow Cook, Dehydrate. This beast can hold a 14-lb turkey, slow cook with a 5 quart Dutch oven and comfortably fit most 9″x13″ pans and 12 cup muffin trays. The airfry and proof settings are lifesavers. Having a child with special needs – leftovers are out of the question as reheating in the microwave or regular oven don’t always produce the crispy results he requires (no more wimpy fries or chicken strips). The Breville reheats leftovers that are meant to be crispy. If your oven is full during holiday meal prep, no worries as this appliance is a fully functioning multi-purpose oven with so many features. I will be sharing more information on the Breville oven as I continue to work through Modernist Bread and other titles.
My love for Le Creuset is no secret. The French icon’s new calm hue collection is ideal for Spring and delivers both beauty and function. I adore all the new colors: Meringue, Fig and Sea Salt. We will have a promotion up in the next few days for a braiser in Sea Salt. Currently, Le Creuset has a 2 1/4 quart sauce pan (in multiple colors) on sale as well as a special offer – buy $150.00 worth of products and receive a free planter using the code SPRING.
My new favorite activity is taking cooking classes. Last weekend, I attended my first Sur la Table class on French pastries. I had a blast and learned a few things to boot. The classroom was filled with a great mix of people including parents with their older children, the staff was friendly and helpful, the chef patient and knowledgeable, and coffee and snacks were available for our enjoyment.
I have a macaron class scheduled for May 4th and I’ll be sharing more details then. Check out Sur la Table’s full schedule and find a class perfect for yourself, to take with someone you love or to gift.
John Boos’ new fusion board is beautiful and functional. We will have a giveaway soon for this gorgeous piece.
Staub has a new breakfast pan that is perfect for pancakes, eggs and more as well as being a stylish addition to your brunch table. Staub’s new French blue color is to die for and can be found exclusively at Sur la Table. (The 3.75 quart Fleur-de-Lis is a stunner as well.)
I will be sharing a giveaway for another copy of The Staub Cookbook (see previous review) and a Graphite Perfect Pan by Staub soon (provided by myself to one of our members).
A Mastering Macarons gift set from Amoretti takes the guess work out of macarons. I will have a full review up tomorrow with a giveaway of TEN $50 digital gift cards for Amoretti‘s products! I mastered macarons and you can too!
Emile Henry is the producer of stunning cook and bakeware. I have shared multiple posts on their products. The rectangular tart pan makes a gorgeous addition to your table. Look for a giveaway featuring this piece along with a copy of Pies & Tarts.
Great Jones’ The Duchess comes in a
variety of colors all at a great price. I caught a glimpse of this
cookware on Molly Yeh’s cooking show. The Duchess is solid and
beautiful and will provide years of use in our kitchens. I will
bring you more on this Dutch oven soon. I had a great idea for a
wedding shower – buying The Duchess in the bride-to-be’s favorite
color and having each guest bring a hand written recipe for a
one-pot meal.
Blendtec Total Classic Original Blender features 1-touch buttons, 6 pre-programmed cycles, pulse, and 10 speed manual control with the ability to achieve a variety of textures. Look for a giveaway featuring the Blendtec soon.
